Is the Teddington AC works still in operation or has it sadly succumbed to the bulldozer like most of the rest of our once great manufacturing base?.

Hi Mark, With the government of the day scraping the TSR2 fighter/bomber it was the end of Teddingtons in Merthyr.Having moved from Merthyr I don't know if the factory is still standing but I don't think it is.

Hi Mark,
The Teddington Aircraft Controls factory is no longer standing. The factory was demolished some years ago and later homes were constructed on the site - called 'Cyfarthfa Gardens'.
Hope this helps. Regards,
Lloyd.

Thanks Lloyd for confirming what I thought was the situtation regarding Teddingtons. When I lived and worked in Merthyr I met and worked with many ex employees who were so proud to be associated with the company .It saddens me to think that the skills they aquired working for the company will have been lost for future generations. I worked for Rolls-Royce and visited TAC many times in the 1960s. I still have a group photograph of the R.R./Teddington people standing outside the mainentrance. We had many happy times. I recall visiting A.H.A. bastable's house in Brecon to see his outstanding railway layout, Ted Williams who was the resident rep. at R.R. Al Tester who worked so hard at the rep. based on R.R., Derby. Treganowan, another Wiiliams who became the visiting rep. for R.R. I just saw his photo. on the website. There were so many nice people there at the time. I would recall their names if I heard them. After leaving R.R I went to work for Garrett, and know that TAC became part of Normalair Garrett. I moved to the U.S.A. in 1984 and am reried in Glendale, Arizona.

Both my parents worked at Teddingtons. Bill Edwards and Pam Williams. I think he moved from Teddingtons to do his National service in the RAF.

I worked as a tracer in the drawing office at Teddingtons and lived in Cefn. Does anyone have any photos from 1951 Festival of Britain celebrations?

Hi Marian Shattock
I live in No 9 for 10 years and my father was the Chief Draughtsman from the opening of TAC in 1947 to 1964 when he had a serious car accident on the Brecon Beacons. Do you remember Ken Bryant? There was also a tracer called Valerie who lived at No10, did you know her. She looked after me sometimes when I was about 8 years old. Nice to hear from you.

I knew both your father, your mother and grand father and visited their house many times. I also lodged in Maesgwynne estate.

I was an apprentice at Teddingtons in the 50's and I think Jack Bowen was the foremen in the experimental department at that time.
