Hi There. This is probably a long shot. My Mum was born in Georgetown in 1935. The Family moved to Haslemere in Surrey in 1945. My Mum's name was Joan Davies. If I remember her Parents names were Sid and Nell. She had several siblings Sidney, Eva, Ernie, Vernon, Barbara, Walter, Gwen, Florence, there are a couple more, but off the top of my head I can't remember them. On our last visit to Merthyr we went to visit one of my Mum's cousins. Jean Sullivan who lived along the Brecon Road. Jean had a sister called Meg. Regards Barbara

You do not say what you want help with. Do you want to contact living relatives, cousins etc. or do you want to go back to the 19th century and your family tree? I have had a quick look and think that the parents of Joan Davies and think that her mother was a Burton before marriage but I cannot find their marriage in Merthyr Tydfil, although that does not mean they were not married here.
Could help looking at records but don't know they family. Rob

Thank you for your reply. Yes my Grandmother was a Burton before Marriage. From what my Mother told me they were Married at Vaynor Church. I did go there once. It was then very over grown and looking sad. My Mum was one of 13 Children. I'm really not sure about the name of the Street that they lived in even though my Mum did tell me, and I have been there. I do remember that Mum always used to tell me about the 21 steps that she fell down near her home. I would like to find out more about Mums side of the Family.

Barbara1957 Saw your post there could be three areas where there were 21 steps your mam could have fallen down near to her home if it was near BRECON ROAD. It could be from a street in MORGANTOWN ,there are a large set of steps down on to BETHESDA STREET next to THE LANTERN pub ,there was also steps up to PAYNTERS TERRACE on BETHESDA STREET and there was steps down from BRECON ROAD into CAEPANTYWYLL area.Hope this might help.
