Hello. I remember Conway's very well. Both my mother and grandfather delivered the milk from there. This was in the 40's. my mother had a little van {I think it was held together by string, being wartime}and delivered in the trharris area. there was no passenger seat and if I went with her sat on a crate. My grandfather had a horse and cart and he delivered in Penydarren. I used to go with him very often and new the round well. the horse was called Blackie and whendad finished working there he Blackie was was with another mikman across the road who also worked for Conway's. there is so much more toremember. P erhaps another time. Muriel Bathurst

My memory of Conways was in the late 60's still at School and on the weekend I would be loading up the milk floats with crates of milk / orange juice, this was over the river by the the old gas works as a casual worker, it was a very early start to get the milk out.

My grandparents ran the fish and chip shop on the corner of Lower Hight Street and Court Street which I believe was next door to Conway’s.
This was in 30’s- 50’s. Grandfather (David Evans) and my grandmother (Ellen Evans (nee Beer)
I was just wondering if anyone remember my grandparents and their business, as I have no photos from this time.
Thanks Roger Evans

As a young boy I worked on a Conway's milk float in the evenings and on weekends with a Milkman called Gerald (don't remember is surname but he wore specs) from Dowlais, loading and unloading at the dairy by the gas works near Abercanaid. I remember getting bitten a few times too and the owners on the Gurnos fobbing me off with threepence, one in particular in Oak road ran out from the house after I'd put the milk on the door step and bit me on the backside and it had no teeth but still hurt..I also recall the Conway's milk vending machine at the bottom of town near snows garage, usually didn't have money to put in it though :-)
