I was six years old when the disaster happened I attended Troedyrhiw Infants. On the morning of the disaster we were listening to a schools broadcast when the news came over the radio. This must have been nearly luinchtime, shortly after my Mother came to collect me and Miss Evans the Headmistress told my Mam to take me home where I would be safe.
In the evening I saw Cliff Mitchelmore on the news magazine progamme "24 Hours" I have clear memories of him breaking down in tears. It was shocking for a six year old to see a grown man cry. Although I was very young, I did have some grasp of the enormity of what happened.
I can also recall the Queen coming through Cardiff Road Troedyrhiw on the following Saturday on route to Aberfan. We had a copy of Life Magazine at home and I remember seeing the iconic photo of the Policeman holding a little girl in his arms.

I'm Stephen Webber, I was 9 when the disaster occurred. I have very few memories of the day, I was attending Webster street Junior school Treharris, and that morning the school photographer was taking our annual individual photograph.
The disaster affected all of our lives and what our lives would have been like if it hadn't happen. I now live in Ireland since 2002, I always remember the anniversary's and pop past during my visits to see friends and family.
