Hi thanks for replying. I have searched the old grey matter and cannot remember your parents . maybe because I was a child when we lived in John street I remember the people who had children my age as we played together. I'm hoping more people will visit the site and respond as you did. It all helps to make people remember when reading other peoples memories Regards Bet

Was Patty's mother called Marjorie. Did she live with her Grandmother like me. If so the last time I saw her she was living at Brecon road. marion was the same age as me and went to Castle school. She married Bernard Altmeyer and last I heard was living in the Brecon area. Moira was Queen at festival of Britain. I think her name was Meek but she was older than me. Her photo is on the John st. photos. Well bet , you've certainly got my grey matter working.

Well Bet, if I remember correctly, the Gilroys lived next door, and when my future husband came down the first time , he had to go there for a shave as he only had an electric razor and we only had gas!!

Hi Byron I do remember the old lady that sold the faggots but I could'nt remember her name. I do remember Arthurs shop we always spent our pocket money in there. I have made a reference to it in Betty Tully's memories which Alan posted in Memories of Merthyr I have listed most of the people I remembered If you get time you may like to read it as It may bring back mem.ories for you too. Thanks for replying as I now know that the old lady that sold the faggots was Mrs Peters. every little helps when trying to jog the memory. I don't remember the cattle truck but that could have been after we left in 1960.
