hi littleone ,the gellifaelog road and tramway bridge which spanned the morlais brook was originally built in wood then later strengthened in stone probably 1790s ,it was sittuated approx 200 mtrs north of gellifaelog school in the valley of ( cwm rhyd-y-bedd ).the area has since been landscaped and the point of the bridge lies about 30 mtrs below ground .more information can be obtained from the excellent book - Bridges Of Merthyr Tydfil - by W.L.DAVIES .

David street I believe was behind Sand street just across the road was a small Tin Church(roof was tin) called ST Luke's.The Bessemer Hotel is about 30 yards from where it was situated.I believe there are many good old photos inside the Bessemer at present. Sand Street was overlooking the Bont and the famous LODGING HOUSE was there, also on the Dowlais High street side was the Dowlais Inn my mate had his Stag Party there in the 60's and it was demolished later on.(WE DIDN'T CAUSE THIS HONEST!!!!)

Hi all.......I only just found this forum....I am wondering if perhaps some of the older members/supporters of Merthyr Football Club can help me......My Dad, Haydn Wasley, played football for Merthyr in the 1950's. He is evidenced in quite a number of old match programmes & is mentioned by Albert Lindley in "The Red & Green" memento written as a celebration of the club. What I have not got is a photo of him playing at Merthyr. I have a photo of him playing for a Wales Team that played Oxford University at Penydarren, but sadly no photos of him with Merthyr AFC. I do know that Merthyr were running 2 class teams at that time Southern League & I think Welsh League.....Dad is mentioned as playing in both teams......any help would be much appreciated.......Thanks
